Continuing Professional Development (CPD) 2026-27
Norfolk and Suffolk ICB has commissioned Community Pharmacy Norfolk & Suffolk to support the ongoing development of the community pharmacy workforce across Norfolk and Suffolk during 2026-27.
The project is fully funded by Norfolk and Suffolk ICB and is being delivered separately from contractor levy-funded activities. This dedicated funding allows the team to focus on workforce development and future service planning without incurring costs to community pharmacy contractors.
The programme reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the skills and confidence of community pharmacy teams, helping to improve patient care and support the future delivery of pharmacy services across Norfolk and Suffolk.

On Demand and Upcoming Webinars and Workshops
We will be commissioning structured webinars to be delivered over the course of the programme. These will focus on key priority areas identified as critical to contemporary pharmacy practice.
These webinars will contribute to the broader CPD offer, which is designed to support skill-mix optimisation, delegation, and the effective utilisation of the whole pharmacy team, alongside ongoing clinical upskilling and professional development.

As community pharmacies provide a broader scope of clinical services, their records are increasingly relevant to other providers of care, such as GP practices. This training session will provide a practical guide for community pharmacy teams, including Pharmacists, Independent Prescribers, Pharmacy Technicians, and Foundation Pharmacists, on note-taking for nationally and locally commissioned services (e.g., Pharmacy First and the Contraception Service). Supervision Changes Webinar Wednesday, November 18, 7:30 pm
From 10th December 2026, significant changes to medicines legislation will allow pharmacists to authorise Pharmacy Technicians to prepare, assemble, dispense, sell, and supply medicines, or to supervise these activities. Activities that previously required a pharmacist to perform them or directly supervise them under Section 10 and 10A of the Medicines Act 1968 and Regulation 220A of the Human Medicines Regulations 2012 may now be delegated to appropriately authorised pharmacy technicians. This webinar will explore the legislative changes, what they mean for community pharmacy practice, and the practical steps pharmacy teams should take to implement these changes safely and effectively.
Community Pharmacy Norfolk and Suffolk will host this event, but pharmacies from the East of England are welcome to join.

| Cohort Two applications open January 2027 – Pharmacists from all sectors who are annotated as independent prescribers (IP) at the point of registration are eligible to apply. | Pharmacist Enhanced Practice Pathway: Supporting newly qualified prescribers – The Enhanced Pathway will offer 1200 places in total: 300 with CPPE-provided educational supervision and 900 with employer-provided educational supervision. Places will be split across two cohorts. | With independent prescribing becoming a core part of pharmacy practice, the pathway aims to help early career pharmacists build confidence, competence and consistency in their prescribing role through structured learning and workplace support. The programme is aligned to the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s Enhanced Curriculum and includes online learning modules, workshops, supervised learning events, an e-portfolio, and dedicated support from an educational supervisor.
