Suffolk Domestic Sharps Service

Although disposal of medicinal waste is part of a community pharmacy’s essential services, handling of domestic sharps waste is not. This falls under local Authority contracting. To meet the public need for the disposal of sharps waste, which is required for the administration of medicines, the local authorities commission select pharmacies to meet this need. This service was commissioned in 2019 by Local Authorities in Suffolk.

A list of how the public can dispose of their domestic sharps in each area and the pharmacies commissioned can be found on the local authority web sites.
