To minimise the risk of service disruption, start preparing early:

  • Confirm your telecoms setup – find out if your phone provider still operates on the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).

  • Review your equipment and processes – identify any devices or systems that could be affected by the change.

  • Safeguard prescription workflows – ensure any prescription services linked to PSTN are addressed first.

  • Brief your colleagues – make sure everyone on the team understands what’s happening and when.

  • Raise awareness for patients – put up clear information about the switch and how it could affect telecare or alarm systems.
