Expression of Interest: Extension of the Pharmacy Cancer Referral Service NWICB

THIS CONTENT HAS NOW EXPIRED

Community Pharmacy Norfolk & Suffolk (CPNS) is pleased to announce that, after a successful pilot, NHS Norfolk & Waveney Integrated Care Board is now looking to increase the number of pharmacies able to provide the Cancer Referral Service across its area. This service is supported by the North Norfolk Primary Care Rapid Diagnostic Service, with CPNS commissioned to facilitate project success.

We are now seeking new expressions of interest (EOI) from any pharmacy in Norfolk & Waveney that would like to be involved with this service. Please see the link to the EOI form below.

We will be seeking 10 new pharmacy sites to become active service providers. Norfolk and Waveney ICB will be making the final selection of pharmacies to provide the service based on the information you submit in the EOI and against pre-determined selection criteria. The selected pharmacies will then be informed and fully supported to train and prepare for and offer this service.

The clinical model in Norfolk and Waveney is different to that deployed in some other areas in that patients will be taken through a clinical protocol within the pharmacy and then, if appropriate, referred mainly onto the Rapid Diagnostic Service RDS. Patients will then be contacted and assessed by the RDS and referred onwards for further investigations and treatment where necessary. In some circumstances, after a consultation, a patient may be signposted to their GP for further investigation or even just given safety netting advice, etc.

New pharmacies selected and signing up for this service will receive a setup fee of £390 to recognise the costs involved in training and preparation. CPNS will be holding a face-to-face event at the University Of East Anglia on Tuesday, 20th May 2025, in the evening; full details and booking to follow. All pharmacies selected to provide this service will be asked to send two members of staff to this training and engagement event to qualify for the setup fee. Additional monthly payments will be made based on the number of consultations conducted and the submission of a complete and accurate dataset. Details can be found here.

If you would like to provide this service from your pharmacy, please complete the expression of interest form by 21st April 2025.
